Leyna Nguyen anchors the 4pm and 9pm newscasts on KCAL9. She came to America as a Vietnam refugee in 1975, and credits her family’s struggles for her thirst for knowledge and appreciation of opportunities.

Before KCAL, Leyna was a news anchor and reporter at KCRA in Sacramento, where she also hosted a quarterly program on Asian American issues. She started her TV broadcast career at CBS affiliate WRDW-TV in Augusta, GA.

Past community projects for Leyna include the annual Jerry Lewis MDA telethon, the Special Olympics Summer Games, and Heal the Bay. This Emmy-Award winning journalist also prides herself on the work she does off-camera.

Leyna has built and renovated several schools in Vietnam through her non-profit foundation Love Across the Ocean, which benefits underprivileged children and their families, and assists refugee families in Southern California. Leyna is also one of our most-requested speakers and spends much of her off-time making public appearances and hosting charity events.

Leyna earned a degree in Mass Communication from Webster University in St. Louis. In St. Louis, Leyna did “Morning Drive” for jazz radio station WEBU, and was a substitute teacher for grades K through 6. In 2000, Leyna was named one of “25 Most Influential Vietnamese-Americans in 25 Years.” In 1996 she was chosen “YWCA Woman of the Year.” She is the recipient of numerous television news awards, including three Emmy Awards.

Leyna’s interests include martial arts, cooking, and racing.

Tracy Pham was professionally trained for runway at the age of 16 but started her modeling career in college. She volunteered as a model at the local universities and began working with up-and-coming designers. Tracy became a fashion show choreographer and had the opportunity to work in Europe, Asia, Canada, and many parts of the U.S.

She has directed and choreographed over 300 fashion shows in the past 16 years & has been a pageant director for Miss Global, Miss Vietnam Global, and Miss Vietnam USA. She has acted in comedy skits for entertainment productions such as Van Son, Asia, & Tinh. Her experiences have allowed her to meet many prominent individuals, designers, producers, and artists in the fashion and entertainment industry. Tracy is now a board of directors for the Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce and organizes community charity benefits through fashion shows. Tracy incorporates charity and community work into all the events that she produces and have received a certificate of recognition from Senator Lou Correa as a “Woman Making A Difference.” As founder of Runway Entertainment, Tracy wanted to produce a signature event that provides the fashion industry with a glimpse into the artistic talents of Vietnamese designers worldwide and provide these designers with a platform for mainstream exposure, so Viet Fashion Week was born.

ViktorNL creates pretty photos with pretty people for pretty publications. Viktor has parlayed the skills, experience, and contacts he acquired through volunteering for non-profit organizations in his college years into a passionately driven career in the fashion industry as a producer and creative director.

With his experience in directing photo shoots for fashion magazines such as VietBeauty and Harper’s Bazaar, as well as years of producing small scale community fashion shows to large scale fashion presentations for LA Fashion Week, Viktor will be working closely with the featured fashion designers to bring their visions to life on the Viet Fashion Week catwalk.

Tony has been surrounded by culture and art from an early age.  Born in Stamford, Connecticut in 1982, Tony Toka moved to the San Fernando Valley in California at the age of four.  Growing up in a predominantly Latino community, Tony worked at his family’s business at a local swap meet for 14 years.

Tony went on to University of California Santa Barbara where he developed an interest in Asian and Asian American art, culture and history. He also participated in cultural clubs where he acted and danced for 5 years.  His main concentration throughout his University experience was the representation of Asian American in United States’ Mainstream Media.  In 2005 he graduated with Bachelor’s Degrees in Film Studies and Asian American Studies.  Since then, Tony has been a Director, Producer, Writer, Camera Operator, Video Editor, in many different Behind the Scenes, Television Shows, Commercials, Corporate Videos, Music Videos and Short Films.  Since 2006 he has been worked in the Vietnamese Television, Film and Live Show entertainment industries in California and Vietnam.  His main experience has been working for a Paris by Night (Thuy Nga) where he directed, shot and edited all of the their Behind the Scenes.  His specialty is behind the scenes documentary film making, but he has shown his versatility in 2013 when he play several roles on a 12 episode TV series call Viet Fashion Week (Director, Camera Operator, Editor, Producer, Writer)  Tony currently resides and freelances in Saigon, Vietnam.

Winnie Nguyen was born and raised in Bao Loc, Vietnam. She came to the U.S. at the age of 17. Even though, she had a hard time communicating and understanding English as a second language, she never gave up.

Winnie Nguyen became a VIP club promoter for 5 years (2009 – 2014) covering all of Southern California to the Las Vegas, Nevada area.

Winnie’s passion projects for photo-shoots have allowed her to utilize her creative skills.  She has worked with many fashion designers and artists such as Shin Koyamada (Japanese-American actor in “The Last Samurai”), Rampage Jackson (UFC light heavyweight champion), and Calvin Hiep (renowned Vietnamese designer & actor).

Being thoughtful, observant, and a quick learner, Winnie’s thirst for knowledge and experience made her a great event coordinator/ party planner. She is now currently an event coordinator at Runway Entertainment.

Winnie loves to meet new people and volunteers with charities for children and homeless shelters on her spare time. Winnie was the Emcee Assistant to Leyna Nguyen (CBS / KCAL News anchor) the 1st and 2nd season of Viet Fashion Week. As this year’s Model Coordinator, Winnie will manage all the models participating at Viet Fashion Week while assisting the Executive Producer.
